For metalworking processes, effective ventilation of oil coolant mist (or water-based coolant mist) is needed to promote worker comfort and health, and also to protect sensitive electronic controls. Mist collectors may be either directly mounted to the machining centers or free-hanging, or a central mist collector may be ducted to multiple workstations. In addition, for some operations mist may be effectively captured at the source by utilizing stationary or portable collectors with positional extractor arms. Mist collectors also filter dry contaminants and may be equipped as needed with after-filters, including HEPA after-filters.
